To be honest, I can never get over the death of Damian Wayne. It just feels…untimely to me. Especially when I look at scenes like this, and am reminded that no matter how badass he might appear, he’s still just a 10 year-old. He looks so tiny and innocent on Alfred’s arm, and with Titus and the cat watching…oh God I still don’t see the necessity of his death. What does it achieve? For Bruce to be even more miserable and driven? Honestly, if Jason Todd’s death brought about that big a change in Batman, then I think Damian’s death would have a much much bigger impact. The new 52 is a cruel place really.

Grant Morrison always had planned to kill Damian since his inception. Originally the kid was going to last a single arc but Grant fell in love with his creation. Seven years later when Morrison’s mega arc reached its end, so too did Damian—as intended.
Don’t pin this on the New 52. Damian wasn’t rebooted, so fresh start or not the youngest Wayne was forever meant to die. That’s the sad reality. But occurring in the fun-hating new age that labels itself the New 52 is just a coincidence that fit all too well.
I miss him too. I hate seeing kids die, real or fictional.

It doesn’t matter whether Morrison planned to kill Damian or not. It was still a terrible move editorially, and the executives of DC Comics were idiotic to let him do it, even if Morrison held the creator rights to the character. They could have argued that getting rid of the character would negatively impact their sales, and fought for the rights. Instead they allowed this bone-headed move. And, it’s true, it accomplished nothing…that I’ve seen, anyway. There’s no growth for Batman from this. We’ve already seen him grow from death - even his OWN. What we hadn’t seen was Batman growing in a brand new way, as a father. That was something that the BRILLIANT team over on “Batman and Robin” was doing outstandingly. It’s an absolute shame that Damian is gone, and I, too, will never be over it.
